Reaching with Certainty
In practice, while in a pose, how much am I convicting to my personality, simply rehearsing emotional, mental patterns that keep me from truly opening? Get clear about what is up. Locate the part that is resisting. And REACH from that place. With CERTAINTY. With DEDICATION to why you are practicing.
In a standing wide legged position this morning, arms reaching up high, palms and fingers pressed together in namaste, hips moving forward, heels spiking down, lifting my heart, tailbone long, I finally located the place I was convicting my personality to. Feeling it in my thoracic spine, behind my heart. It took one simple instruction from Sofia: “Don’t dump in your lumbar spine.” How many times I’ve heard that instruction and made the adjustment (as Sofia has to me, too). Here’s the thing, though. And Sofia has called me out on it a few times:
“Don’t conceptualize your way into it. Stop thinking and FEEL.”
NOW, as my expanded awareness was dropped into the feeling experience, I observed that it wasn’t in my lumbar spine that needed presencing. It was behind my heart, in my thoracic spine. When I reached from that place, not only did it feel GOOD, but it opened my whole expression up to more AUTHENTICITY, to what my dedication was that morning.
